Great for Reference or Coffee Table

I have been collecting pocket compasses for some time. I was delighted to see the publication of so fine a book as Compass Chronicles. It is full of detailed information for the collector and the casual reader as well as the antique store browser (who often purchases compasses without really knowing what he or she has bought). I have identified several compasses using this great reference.
This hard bound book is beautifully done, and will make a colorful and classy addition to any bookshelf or table display. The high quality photos of compasses and the fine reproductions of old prints make this book a pleasure to simply leaf through. But don't be fooled into thinking it is simply eye candy. It is a serious reference volume that is well organized and replete with details and explanations. I love it.
