Excellent, but over-priced

The first thing you'll likely experience when you buy these sheets is sublime pleasure - the design is gorgeous, each class has its own customized sheet, and the pages are very well-designed, making it very easy for you to find the information you need quickly during play. The next thing you'll feel (about 5 minutes later) is profound disappointment. Considering the tremendous bargain Wizards of the Coast gave us in the Player's Handbook, why did they feel the need to rob us blind ($9.95? ) for a tiny ream of paper? With the *extremely* limited number of sheets, you will find yourself making frequent and immediate trips to your nearest scanner or photocopier (with WotC's blessing, of course). Considering the ease with which the sheets are printed, however, they could have easily given us 3 times as many sheets for the price.
Overall, however, I am extremely pleased with the new layout. The design flows logically, and allows you to quickly create a character; the sheets are made of a high-quality paper that erases easily (but woe unto you who must use photocopies!). With their comprehensive details, logical format, and impressive completeness, they actually remind me of the well-regarded Permanent Character Record Folder of days gone by (TSR, 1980-81).
My final verdict is a mixed one. If money is not an object, you will be thrilled with these high-quality records; they will save you time and quickly make themselves indispensable. But if you were expecting a bargain (logically, since the PHB is one, hands down), you may well want to hook up your printer and use the PHB CD-ROM character generator instead.

Almost perfect-Definitely a welcome addition to the game!

I would give the product five stars but I have a few items to mention. Other than the mentions that will follow, I found the sheets to be an excellent tool for keeping track of the character and complicated NPCs. There is even a sheet for animal companions/familiars with space on the back for detailing complicated magical items. There is a seperate sheet, front and back, for each of the character classes. Then there are spell sheets with spell listings for each of the spell casting classes. Here's the first place that the sheets run afoul of the real world. A lot of time and money has been spent on creating new spells for all the classes and 3E now looks like a small list compared to the supplements that are available in so many places. A player can pencil her favorite extra spells in, but then she might wind up with a cluttered sheet anyway. If you are playing strictly by the books however, it is excellent. There is a little bit of this involved in the PC sheets as well. Players will want to bring in special classes. There is a generic PC sheet included but it won't be as nice as the customized sheets for say, a cleric, which includes the Turning Undead table. Again, those who follow the rule book closely will find this accessory indespensible. Do you want nitpicking? The barbarian sheet indicates that the character gets a d8 for hitpoints when the player handbook clearly indicates the barbarian gets d12. Small thing to pick on, but it makes one wonder if there aren't one or two more missed typos. Even if you are into making your own character sheets by pencil or laser printer, you would do well to consider these sheets as reference for your own layout. The inside cover is a detailed process for building your character. One more plus, the back cover has one of my favorite new artwork pieces from 3E. It is a female Halfling Rogue. I'll admit that I am biased, I like halflings and this one is a great representation of the new and improved halfling race.I am quite glad to have purchased this item.

Save your money

There are a couple of problems with these sheets. First, you are paying $10 for 15 sheets of paper. There is one sheet per character class, which means you'll be making lots of copies. Two, they are just too small. The information is crammed into these sheets, so prepare to write small. There are some better options. One, just photocopy the sheet that comes with the PHB. Two, use the character generator CD-ROM that comes with the PHB. Three, download one off the internet. Four, create your own sheets. All of these options are, for all intents and purposes, free. I found a much better sheet online that has a lot more room to write things, so I don't have to squint to see what I wrote. I will say that the layout of the sheets is actually good, but there just isn't space. I would recommend not getting these sheets.

1977... the year so much changed

These days you can ask anyone about Star Wars—or at least anyone minimally plugged into pop culture—and they'll recognize it as the corporate-sized media juggernaut it is. More than just a series of movies, the enduring influence of Star Wars can be seen nearly everywhere. And since Disney acquired the rights, "May the Force be with you," might as well live on forever. But it wasn't that long ago when a still mostly unknown filmmaker by the name of George Lucas invested his time, talent and treasure on a million-to-one financial gamble.

Empire Building by Garry Jenkins tells of the humble beginnings of a galaxy from a long time ago, and far, far away. The experience is riveting, and I recommend it.

A very interesting work

This book was kind of a guilty pleasure for me. On one hand, I have been a huge Star Wars fan (pretty much since birth) and I couldn't put this book down due to the behind-the-scenes story of the struggle Lucas had to go through to put his grand vision on the screen. All of the adversity and drama that is very well described in this book would make a very good story for a decent fiction writer, but knowing that all of the seedy hollywood politics actually did happen makes the "making of the movie" story almost as powerful as the film itself. The guilty part of the pleasure is that I almost felt like I was betraying George Lucas by reading the book. Jenkins seems to write much of the story from Star Wars/Empire producer Gary Kurtz's point of view. This would not be a problem if Kurtz didn't come off like a bitter ex-producer who got booted from the set for conflicting with Lucas' demands. Many passages allude to Kurtz being the one who saved the production, and since Kurtz did have much input in the book, it looks like Jenkins is trying to downplay Lucas' involvment while trying to over-emphasize his buddy Kurtz's involvement. Even while feeling this, I could not put the book down. A must have for all Star Wars fans.

Want to know why Episode 1sucked compard to classic SW?

This book is a great behind the scences look at how Star Wars Trilogy was made. It shows how George Lucas bulit an empire from a film that the stuidos were sure would flop. It describes how Lucas had to fight for every penny and try to keep the studio excs from butchering his film. However behind the scences it also showed how Lawarnce Kasdan, the producer, and the special effects wizards at ILM helped shape and refine Luca's vison. I love Star Wars BUT after reading this book and watching the embarrasment that was Episode 1 I no longer view George Lucas as the god that can do no wrong. I came away feeling cheated after seeing Episode 1. It was a lame movie. The villians were weak, the plot moved so s l o w ly, there was almost no Wars in Star Wars. The best villian Darth Maul gets little screen time and a big five lines. (The imperial officers had more lines in the classics) and Lucas directed this? What went wrong? Did he go senile? The I found this book and the answers to all my questions. The movie Lucas had the least amount of input (Empire Strikes Back) is considered by most the best SW film in terms of charecter delvepoment, humor, plot, etc. He hated how it was shot and kicked Kasdan out and picked a director that was bascialy his puppet, thus the subpar ework filled Return of the Jedi. This book is a great look at how SW affected Lucas, Kasdan, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, and Mark Hamill, and why did the acting in Ep 1 not even make it the level of the previous films? Lucas might be a visonary but as a direcor of actors he is subpar at best and this book will tell you why. Classic SW moments (i won't give it away after all buy the book)Lucas did not even and sometimes reisted thier inclusion into the films. There was no grey side (Fett, jabba, Solo) in Episode One, just black and white, good and evil. Also please in the next SW film give the bad guys more screen time, they had none in ep 1. and those weak droids make stromtroopers seem like snipers. The myth of Star Wars is George Lucas bulit it by himself, but as you will see from the book if it was not for a top fox exuctive, Lawarnce Kasdan, some freaked out 70's band of geek boys obsessed with models and computers, numerous rewrites to inject some humor (real adult humor not Jar *grinding of teeth* Jar Binks, the force would not be with us today.

These papers present a compelling critique of Western Culture and an eloquent text on the rights of Indigenous nations. New material by John Mohawk, Chief Oren Lyons, and Jos� Barreiro give background information on the events leading up to this meeting, a historical perspective on the struggle for self-determination by Indgenous peoples, and a look to a new era of possibility for Native nations. Not many books portray the heart and courage of so many people in one volume.

About the Author
Sotsisowah, John Mohawk, a scholar, authored the position papers presented at the UN and writes the foreword in this new edition. Jose Barrerio, who wrote the afterword in this edition, was a long time editor at Akwesasne Notes, is editor at Indian Country today, and the author of The Indian Chronicles. Chief Oren Lyons is a traditional Faithkeeper of the Turtle Clan, a member of the Nation Council of Chiefs of the Six Nations of the Iroquois Confederacy, and a principal figure in the Traditional Circle of Indian Elders. He has authored numerous books including Voice of Indigenous Peoples and is a Professor of American Studies at the State University of New York, Buffalo.

Longhouse Manifesto

This collection of position papers from the Haudenosaunee does a lot more than outline the values and traditions of the People of the Longhouse. It comprises an historical assay of Western Civilization and a political manifesto for all people who would choose to end the legacy of colonialism. An ancient nation that has existed in peace in prosperity without recourse to laws and jails, the Haudenosaunee were the first to establish a league of "United Nations" to ensure peace, harmony and respect among disparate groups of people. Incidentally, it was their pact, the Iroquois Confederacy, which inspired the government of the United States of America. Of particular notice in this collection was the last paper, "A Basic Call to Consciousness," which succinctly outlines the original instructions given to the Haudenosaunee by the Creator of Life; the destructive processes which are eradicating their way of life and most life on the planet; and lastly the Haudenosaunee strategy for survival. Absolutely essential for anyone who wishes to better understand and change the oppressive, exploitive, and destructive traditions which drive Western Civilization, I cannot over recommend this book.

This book is not just a book, it represents a call for the world to return to sanity and life. everyone must read this, must examine their conscience and decide how much they value life, nature, and the dignity of every human being. we cannot afford to keep moving toward the precipice of total destruction. a wise man once said that if one loses his way and is on a wrong path, turning back is progress. we must turn back, turn away from a path of death and devestation and untold human suffering to a path which embraces wholeness, wellness, and recognition of our connectedness to all living beings. this goes beyond any previous dichotomies be they political, religious or cultural. it is a question now of life or death. if we die, if we destroy life on earth, then what hope have we of transformation? in order to change and grow we must first survive, and survival depends upon the immediate cessation of the wholesale destruction of this Earth that is now going on...Indigenous Peoples of the world have the knowledge of life and sustainability. They are the Original Human Beings, and they represent our collective Humanity. the future is in their hands. modern man is totally insane and the path of western civilization has brought us to the edge of extinction. in order to heal we must first recognize in what peril we have placed ourselves. Indigenous Peoples would be justified in denying us their teachings, for we have violated everything that the Creator has given us to hold sacred. i beg Native American communities and Indigenous communities worldwide to forgive us and to share their Way of Living that we all might have a chance to survive. we have only our own lies and selfishness and corruption and the total sum of our injustices, to lose. we have a world out of balance to restore. join the forces of life, sustainability, connectedness, and respect. you are not really happy anyway. examine yourselves and see the sickness rotting away at your soul. break your hearts of stone and let them be turned to hearts of flesh, hearts which feel, hearts which can be truly human. this is my plea.

While I believe the book to be great, I was confused by the cost. I payed ~$70 for a $1.50 book. A potential reason may have been because of its non-pervasiveness. I may have overlooked the details.
